YOUR CLAMPING TECHNOLOGY IS ALREADY TAKING SHAPE – CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS FROM RÖHM

Did you know? More than half of the clamping and gripping technology from RÖHM consists of customized solutions for customers from a wide range of technology sectors. Our engineers apply their entire expertise to the development of these solutions. RÖHM products are among the best in their class – robust, precise and with intelligent force and motion control. This applies to both standard products and customer-specific solutions.

The specialist for individual clamping solutions

At RÖHM, the focus is always on optimizing the process in your production. Reducing setup times plays a crucial role in this. Let us show you how our solutions can help you reduce setup times and part costs!

Application-specific multiple clamping processes are often the key to greater efficiency here! Our customized multiple four-, six- and eight-fold clamping processes make it possible to machine several workpieces without retooling. This significantly increases productivity – and that is precisely what matters. With our engineering and production expertise, we develop and produce customized clamping devices that solve almost any complex clamping task.

Diverse solutions for your industry sector

Whether it's an indexing chuck with centrifugal force compensation for large sleeves in the oil and gas industry, a Quattro clamping tower with vices or a 6-jaw chuck with centric compensating clamping – our range of application-specific solutions is impressive. Our solutions are as diverse as our customers. In the last 25 years, we have developed over 1,000 individual solutions for the automotive industry alone – and many more for a multitude of industry segments.

High standards

The standard at RÖHM is clearly defined: even the most unusual solution for clamping and gripping workpieces during production should be achievable. Our technology clamps or grips any workpiece, no matter how complex its geometry or how delicate it is. It can be integrated into any production process and any machine tool – whether manually or fully automated.

REFERENCE PROJECTS

HIGH-TECH CLAMPING SOLUTION FOR WATCH PLATES

IWC Schaffhausen relies on the compact 5-axis machining center KERN Micro for reliable and reproducible production of watch plates. Installed on it is the award-winning indexing power chuck from RÖHM's Micro Technology series. This enables double-sided machining of the blanks without re-clamping. This is how IWC achieves the highest precision and repeatability in a single clamping process with dozens of machining steps and multiple tool changes.

Workpiece: Watch plates

Task: Process-reliable and repeatable clamping for the accurate and double-sided machining of watch plates

Solution: Power-operated indexing chuck KPF-MT

Customer Benefits: Maximum precision and reduced set-up times thanks to double-sided plate processing in a single clamping process

AUTOMATED PROCESSING OF CROSS JOINTS ON ROUND TRANSFER MACHINES

FFG Werke GmbH, based in Offenburg, secured an order from a Chinese company in 2015. Wanxiang is the name of the company and it is one of the largest automotive suppliers in China. Wanxiang produces around 60 million units of this component each year, a universal joint of a cardan drive in three different sizes. Witzig & Frank developed an eight-station rotary transfer machine for this purpose. Because the parts had to be machined on four sides, an ingenious clamping concept was developed in collaboration with RÖHM.

Workpiece: Universal joint of a cardan shaft

Task: Fully-automated four-sided complete machining of universal joints on an eight-station rotary transfer machine from Witzig& Frank

Solution: An ingenious clamping device integrated into the machine concept, which not only has the function 'open and close', but also a virtual W-axis that rotates exactly 90 degrees.

Benefit: This intelligent clamping device integrated into the machine concept resulted in a positive contribution on the 'part to part' cycle times as well as the compact design of the machine.

PROCESSING OF A DIVERSE RANGE OF PARTS WITH A STATIONARY VISE SSP

In a close working relationship with a global group of customers, EVG develops innovative systems for manufacturing micro- and nano-components. The product range includes lithography systems, wafer bonding systems and inspection systems. The RÖHM clamping vise with quick-change jaws and V-profile jaws has a correspondingly dimensioned jaw stroke of 30 mm and is therefore ideally suited for the diverse range of parts at EVG.

Workpiece: Vise workpieces

Task: Machining of a wide range of parts with external dimensions from 20x20 mm to 200x200 mm

Solution: SSP stationary clamping device with quick-change jaws and V-profile jaws

Benefit: A total of only 8 clamping devices are required for the wide range of parts, instead of 37 clamping devices. This not only saves space and costs, but also reduces maintenance.

PRODUCTION OF CAST AND STAINLESS STEEL HOUSINGS WITH A RÖHM KEY BAR CHUCK DURO-TA XT

With great reliability, cast and stainless steel housings are produced on request mainly in single-piece production from the idea to the execution. For their production, NTG has invested in a state-of-the-art turn-mill center from DMG. To make sure that the DMC 210 FD can utilize its capacity as flexibly as possible, NTG chose a DURO-TA XT manual chuck from RÖHM.

Workpiece: Cast and VA housing

Task: Machining of large and small workpieces with frequent new setups.

Solution: 3-jaw manual chuck with DURO-TA XT 1200 mm jaw quick-change system

Benefit: Quick changeover from large to small workpieces in minutes. High clamping force and concentricity, low dead weight – and all that at a diameter of 1,200 mm.
